REPORT
People of love project,
By Center for Freedom and justice
With Fund from Jerusalem Fund Organization
Summary
On Friday the 2nd and Saturday the 3rd of June, Center for Freedom and Justice executed a food distribution project in Ramadan called “People of Love” which was funded by a French Organization called “Life”, in total 102 food boxes were distributed by Center for Freedom and Justice to families in 7 different villages in Hebron area, south of West Bank, Palestine. The villages are chooses due to the inhabitants constant pressure from the Israeli occupation and lack of basic rights like freedom of movement and the chance to develop their land and secure their own income. The boxes were distributed in the beginning of Ramadan, when the tradition of sharing meals with family and friends is strong and important in the Islamic culture.
Beneficiaries
On the 2nd of June in total 63 families in Beit Ummar, Al Jaba and Jala got food boxes. The main income for the inhabitants here are based on agriculture, but they are surrounded by several Israeli settlements. The settlements is a constant threat to the inhabitants’ physical safety, freedom of movement and livelihoods. The farmers are pressured to stay away from their land due to attacks and harassment. This problem increases during planting and harvesting seasons.
On the 3rd of June we distributed food boxes to 39 families in Tawana, Mofaára, Kalt el dabe and Sussiya, in the South Hebron Hills area. An area were the lack of water, electricity is a huge challenge for the inhabitants and were the infrastructure and possibilities to develop are almost absent due to the Israeli occupation. By living in Area C, under full Israeli control, all people suffer from lack of public services and infrastructure. Many of the families in these villages live in caves and tents.

Box content
One box will provide one family with basic food supplies for a month.
The boxes, each one almost is 20 kg, were filled with olive oil, vegetarian oil, dates, cheese, sugar, rice, flour and jam, to a total worth of 189 NIS.
Recommendation
Many families of each targeted location were benefited from the food boxes but in some location such as Kalt el dabe consisted of 25 families living in tent in total and we had only 15 food boxes to distribute and Sussiya, Tawana and Mofaàra are the same thing, so we recommend in totatal to distribute 250 food boxes for these very poor locations next Ramadan Inchallah.
